Your information. Clear choices.
What we collect, how we use it, and the controls available to you when you use ybbly.
This Privacy Policy explains how ybbly (“ybbly”, “we”, “us”) handles personal information when you browse listings, create an account, post an ad, publish a professional profile, or contact other users. It applies to ybbly’s website and services, alongside our Terms and Conditions.
1. Information you provide
- Account details: your name, email address, mobile number, selected city, account preferences, and profile image where provided. Passwords are stored as hashes, rather than readable passwords.
- Sign-in information: when you use a supported Google or Facebook sign-in, we receive the account details needed for that sign-in, such as your name, email address, and available profile image. We do not receive your password for that service.
- Classified ads: titles, descriptions, prices, categories, locations, photos, and other details you submit.
- Professional profiles: business and professional names, profession, service description, experience, business location, contact details, website, photos, and category-specific information you choose to publish.
- Interactions: chat messages and images, saved ads, saved searches, reports, support requests, and account actions.
Only submit information you are entitled to share. Avoid including identity documents, bank details, payment PINs, medical records, or other sensitive information in public listings or messages.
2. Device information, cookies, and location
When you use the service, we process technical information such as IP addresses, browser or device information, request and error logs, sign-in events, and security-related activity. This helps us deliver the service and investigate misuse.
We use cookies and similar browser storage to maintain sessions, support security checks, and remember choices such as location and recent searches. You can clear this information or block cookies in your browser, although sign-in and some preferences may stop working.
You can choose a location manually. If you allow browser location access, we use the position provided by your browser to help select a nearby city. You can refuse or revoke that permission in your browser settings. A listing or professional profile may separately display the location or business address you choose to publish.
3. Why we use information
- To create and secure accounts, authenticate sign-ins, and operate account settings.
- To publish listings and professional profiles, provide search by category and location, and enable contact between users.
- To maintain saved items, notifications, and search alerts.
- To send service emails, including verification codes, account security notices, and enabled chat or listing notifications.
- To answer support requests, investigate reports, prevent fraud and spam, and enforce our rules.
- To maintain and improve service reliability and meet applicable legal obligations.
We process information to provide the features you request, with your permission where required, and for lawful security, operational, and compliance purposes. When a feature needs optional permission, such as browser location, you can choose whether to allow it.
4. What other people can see
Classified ads: your public seller name and the content, photos, and location you publish can be viewed by visitors. Your private account email is not automatically displayed on your ads. Seller phone sharing through chat depends on the available request-and-approval controls.
Professional profiles: the business information and contact details you submit for the public profile are intended to be visible. This can include your business phone, WhatsApp number, email, website, and business address. These are separate from your private account settings. Only add details you want customers to use.
Messaging: recipients can read the messages and view the photos you send them. Authorised staff may access information as needed for support, moderation, security, and legal requests. Do not treat platform chat as end-to-end encrypted messaging.
Public pages can appear in search engines and may be copied or shared by other people. Changing or removing a page does not immediately remove third-party copies or caches.
5. Service providers and other disclosures
We use service providers for hosting, databases, search infrastructure, image storage, email delivery, and supported location or sign-in features. Information needed to operate those features may be processed by the relevant provider. For example, email delivery uses Amazon SES, and optional online place suggestions may use Ola Maps.
We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with a lawful request, protect users, investigate fraud, enforce our terms, or establish or defend legal claims. If the service changes ownership, relevant information may transfer with it, subject to applicable privacy requirements.
We do not sell your personal information. External websites and services, including WhatsApp and a professional’s own website, operate under their own privacy policies when you leave ybbly.
6. Storage and retention
We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service and for relevant security, support, dispute, and legal purposes. Public visibility and retention are different: an expired, removed, or sold ad may no longer appear publicly while records remain where needed for those purposes.
Account deletion removes or anonymises account information through our deletion process. Limited records may remain where needed for legal obligations, fraud prevention, reports, moderation, or the integrity of conversations with other users. Backups and cached copies may persist until their normal replacement or removal.
Our infrastructure and providers may process information in locations outside your state or country. Any such processing remains subject to applicable legal requirements. We do not promise that all information is stored only in India.
7. Your controls and requests
- Update details: use Profile and Security to change the account details supported there.
- Manage public content: edit your ads and professional profile to keep their information accurate.
- Download account data: use Your data to request the export available for your account. Contact us if you need information not included in that export.
- Delete your account: use the account deletion control in Your data and complete the identity-confirmation steps.
- Change preferences: manage available email options, saved searches, browser cookies, and location permissions.
- Ask for help: contact us to request access, correction, erasure, withdrawal of permission, or to raise a privacy complaint. Available rights and exceptions depend on applicable law.
We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. Removing information or withdrawing permission may prevent us from providing the related feature. We will explain when a request cannot be completed because information must lawfully be retained.
8. Security
We use measures such as encrypted connections, password hashing, access controls, expiring verification codes, and session security checks. No website or storage system can guarantee complete security.
Use a strong password and never share verification codes. If you suspect unauthorised access or a privacy incident, contact us promptly with the relevant details. We will investigate and make notifications where required by applicable law.
9. Children
ybbly is intended for people aged 18 and over. Children should not create accounts or submit personal information. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact support so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our features, practices, or applicable requirements change. We will update the date at the top and provide an appropriate notice for material changes. New uses that require your permission will be handled through the relevant permission process.
11. Contact Us
For privacy questions and requests, email [email protected]. For grievances, email [email protected]. Include the account email or relevant public page URL so we can locate the issue, but do not send passwords, OTPs, or payment PINs.
Visit Contact Us for support and available grievance contact details.
