Take a moment. Make a safer deal.

A few checks before you pay, meet someone, or book a service can help you avoid common scams.

1. Check the listing and the person

Read the full description, ask questions, and compare the asking price with similar items. Be cautious about unusually low prices, urgent payment demands, or stories intended to stop you checking the details. A profile or verification badge does not guarantee a safe transaction.

2. Meet safely and inspect first

Where practical, meet in daylight in a busy public place and take someone with you. Tell a trusted person where you are going. For large items viewed at a home or workplace, arrange the visit carefully and avoid going alone.

Test the item before you pay. For a used phone, check ownership documents and identifiers where available. For vehicles or property, verify the relevant documents and obtain appropriate independent advice before committing.

3. Be careful with payments

  • Do not send a deposit, delivery fee, or token payment to an unknown person simply to reserve an item.
  • You do not need to enter a UPI PIN to receive money. Check the action shown in your payment app before approving anything.
  • Do not scan a stranger’s QR code, approve a collect request, or install a screen-sharing app to receive a payment.
  • Confirm payment in your own bank or payment app. A screenshot, message, or email is not proof that money arrived.

ybbly does not hold payment for items, provide escrow, or guarantee refunds for transactions arranged between users.

4. Protect your account and personal details

Never share passwords, OTPs, banking PINs, card security codes, or remote access to your device. Use a strong, unique password. Keep identity documents and bank information out of ads and chats. Avoid unknown links claiming that you must verify an account or collect a refund.

5. Choose professionals carefully

Ask about qualifications, licences where relevant, scope of work, charges, materials, and timelines before agreeing to a service. Get important terms in writing. For regulated services such as healthcare, check credentials with the relevant authority. Do not share sensitive records through a public profile or listing.

6. Stop and report suspicious activity

If you feel pressured or something seems wrong, stop the conversation and do not pay. Use the reporting option on the ad or in chat, and block the person where appropriate. Preserve the listing URL, relevant messages, and transaction references for a report.
